Six months into IETM Australia Council Collaboration Project

Posted on June 20, 2012

Based in the IETM network’s busy office above the Kaaitheater in central Brussels, I have been responsible for producing half a dozen projects in the 2011/12 financial year and am in the process of planning and producing the 2012/13 program for which I am the curator. I have attended three IETM meetings in the role- see post on Krakow meeting- and will be off to Zagreb in October. The work that supports the Australian producers, artists and presenters that attend these meetings is developed over networking and project development. I have been busy seeing local work in festivals in Belgium, France, UK and Finland and have been building relationships to access opportunities for Australian artists. I am really excited by possibilities for Australian organisations to access EU funding in 2013-15 and am exploring possibilities to participate in existing and new networks for arts mobility and co-production. I am the contact point for many Australian artists passing through Europe, holding meetings in Brussels, Paris and London with artists en route to gigs or undertaking professional development projects or collaborations in Europe. I am also the first point of contact for many European artists and producers keen to explore the Australian scene and make new contacts there. It is a busy and rewarding position which I will develop until my tenure here ceases in July 2013. More anon.
