Centre Pompidou, Metz

On way home from holiday in France, we visited the very beautiful new Centre Pompidou in Metz. The 1917 exhibition displayed art and reportage from a year of extraordinary violence, disillusionment and creative dynamism; think trench warfare, Futurism, Uncle Sam and Picasso’s ballet designs. The Sol Le Witt wall drawings were ethereally beautiful in contrast and the building itself something of a balm.
