Faits d’Hiver Festival, Paris

Posted on February 20, 2013

Attended just one evening of the multi-venue dance festival organised in Paris by micadanses, in order to support Australian artists, Matthew Day and Sandra Parker. Enjoyed very much their performances as a double bill and was pleased to see the oversold house bursting at the seams as well as to see the extensive spread in Le Monde discussing Australian dance more generally. I have seen several of the other pieces in the Faits d’Hiver program in other contexts and was impressed by the broad program that seems to counterpoint brand new work from emerging artists with hardy, touring pieces such as Still Standing You from Pieter Ampe. This was a great context for introducing the Australian work to the Paris based presenters and gatekeepers and praise is due to Angela Conquet of Dancehouse who engineered the whole thing.
