Australia Council blog feature on key IETM project in Belgium

Posted on April 11, 2013

I am delighted to see the Australian exposure for key project supported by my IETM project. Ahil has been working between Australia and Belgium for over a year and has made great progress in integrating himself into the local Antwerp community. I gave him a lot of advice regarding further touring of the extraordinary piece of theatre he made with a group of African migrant footballers. I also connected him to a residency opportunity in Glasgow that could lead to a Commonwealth Games commission in 2014 and I am talking to him regularly about a new commission from the Monty in Antwerp. Ahil is a very dynamic and talented artist and epitomises the kind of approach that I hope to support in this role; an active desire to engage with European structures and opportunities and bring those resources to bear on work with an Australian character that can also be shown back home.
