Compil d’Avril Festival, Brussels

Posted on April 18, 2013

Another week, another arts festival in Brussels. After a busy IETM meeting in Dublin, I was rather underenthused about the prospect of an intensive period of arts attendance, but the lure of discovering some new venues in Brussels (La Raffinerie and the Grand Studio) as well as the chance to see some artists whose names I had never heard, lured me out for two of the programs in this festival organised by Charleroi Danses. I enjoyed some of the images in Louise Vanneste’s Black Milk rather than the totality of the piece. I really did not rate much of the mixed bill on the Thursday night, with Francois Brice’s Ellipsis being a real low point. It is interesting to note that dance in the Walloon community is quite different from the Flemish work.
