Veletrzni Palace, Prague

Aside from the magnificent Slav Epic by Alphonse Mucha, that was housed in a faraway castle the last time I visited Prague, this huge gallery hosted four floors of 20 and 21st century art. The large French collection had all the big names, Picasa, Cezanne, Matisse et al, and the Czech collection was resplendent with kitschy, colourful, sometimes breathtakingly audacious works. I really enjoyed the objects, ranging from a 50s sidecar to deco glassware and also the set design and costumes and architecture sections. This was a depleting experience and all but saturated me for visual art for the rest of the visit.
