Brisbane Festival 2013

Posted on September 13, 2013

In Brisbane for meetings associated with my IETM job, I was lucky enough to catch three shows in the festival and to enjoy several of the social spaces, such as the Spiegeltent precinct and the late night bars alongside the Southbank galleries. I attended the new collaboration, Opus, between Circa and The Debussy Quartet from France, at The Powerhouse. I also saw two works at Metro Arts. Welcome to Thonnet was a local, one man show that disappointed whilst A Western, by Action Hero from the UK, surprised me by being whimsical and charming rather than hard-edged and challenging as I had expected. There were several other works in the festival I would have liked to see, in particular small pieces by Tim Crouch and Nicola Gunn, but there was not sufficient time to linger.
