Hill House, Denton residence

Posted on August 15, 2014

I was extremely lucky to be invited to the MAF associated reception at the Yarra Valley home of architect John Denton (of Denton, Corker, Marshall fame). Just a few minutes drive from Tarrawarra Gallery, this weekender is a breath-taking intervention into the valley, visible on the ridge from afar and even on approach seeming to hover in the green surroundings. The interiors were no less breath-taking, in the way in which the enormous windows and gallery wall framed the horizon. If only I were drinking champagne there with friends, rather than awkwardly attempting to insinuate myself into the less than welcoming elite of Australia’s contemporary art world. Painful experience in sublime surrounds.
