I want to acknowledge the ongoing importance of Sophie Travers’ work. As a first-timer I simply don’t know what I would have done at the IETM Meeting without Sophie. She is relentlessly amazing; her connections are so strong that anyone you contact upon her advice not just replies but actually meets with you, and is appropriate for your organisation. She’s a constant advocate and always maintains an extraordinarily wide breadth of knowledge of people and organisations’ practices.

Emily Sexton, Artistic Director of Next Wave Festival, Melbourne

In the arts, sometimes you need big-picture strategic input from someone with perspective. Other times you need urgent help pulling together a funding application, or developing a complex new project, or finalising a business plan, or planning an international tour, or recruiting new staff. Sophie Travers has done all of this and more for Aphids – without her clear, incisive, generous and super-smart contributions, we wouldn’t have been able to achieve anywhere near as much growth, change and art-making.

David Young, former Artistic Director of Aphids, now Artistic Director of Chamber Made Opera

Sophie brings a rare kind of smarts to her work.  Deft at wrangling ideas and language into shape, reliably sharp-eyed as an editor, creative and collaborative in her approach, she’s the complete package.  A joy to work with!

Jennifer Deger, National Institute for Experimental Arts

Sophie Travers has worked with Force Majeure since the company’s inception in 2005. During this time, she has consulted on grant applications, acquittals and business plan development.  She has also facilitated company planning days with intelligent, thought-provoking and insightful input.   Furthermore, Sophie’s knowledge and expertise in grant and business plan writing has been key to the company’s successful transition from program to key organisation funding with the state and federal funding bodies. Sophie is diligent and resourceful and it is always a pleasure to have her as a member of our small team; I would have no hesitation in recommending her.

Karen Rodgers, Producer, Force Majeure, Sydney

Sophie is a true collaborator, with an extensive knowledge of the arts locally and internationally. She has enabled our company to step up and strategically develop touring networks. What sets Sophie part is her ability to understand the uniqueness of her clients and to respond with great speed
to produce solid and consistent results. She is a delight to work with.

Alison Halit, General Manager Ranters Theatre, Melbourne

In an arts economy that is often challenging and bewildering Sophie Travers has given Torque Show a steady beam of light through which to navigate this landscape. Our three year plan constructed in consultation with Sophie is coming to fruition in nearly every way. Sophie is a fantastic conduit between the business of making art and the art itself. Gallus is a scarce and valuable resource for those seeking to take their arts business practice to the next level.

Ross Ganf, Artistic Director, Torque Show

We have engaged Sophie Travers as a researcher, grant and acquittal writer for the past 12 months and we have found her to be efficient, flexible and fun to work with. In the grant writing process she has facilitated idea generation sessions and has offered processes which have resulted in successful stakeholder enegagement and most importantly successful submissions!

Debby Maziarz, Former Executive Director – Westside Circus, Melbourne

Sophie did an excellent job – and the Company have already started to implement some of the recommendations. I believe the excellent work carried out by Sophie will assist  in the future strategic growth of Tony Yap Company.
